Raymarine Dealer, Certified Technicians
Raymarine Marine Electronics On The Chesapeake Bay
Norton Yachts installs, upgrades, and services marine electronics from our yard in Deltaville, Virginia, on the Chesapeake Bay. As a Raymarine dealer with ABYC-certified technicians on site, we handle the mounting, wiring, network setup, and calibration, so chartplotters, radar, autopilots, and AIS work together as one system.

Installation
A new chartplotter bolted in beside old wiring and a stand-alone depth sounder is how a helm ends up with five screens that don't talk to each other. As a boat electronics installer, we plan the whole system first, then build it:
A walk through the finished system closes out the job, so you know what the screens can do before the first trip.
Raymarine Marine Electronics
Raymarine marine electronics are built to work as a family: a multifunction chartplotter at the helm can show radar, AIS, sonar, and autopilot controls on one screen. Norton Yachts is a Raymarine dealer with certified Raymarine technicians on site, and our technicians have factory training from Raymarine, so selling, installing, and servicing the system all happen in one yard.
Typical Raymarine upgrades are a new chartplotter on an existing network, a radar added to an existing display, or an autopilot that takes heading and waypoint data from the chartplotter. We also sell and service Garmin and the Navico brands (B&G, Simrad, and Lowrance), so the right system is the one that fits your boat, not the one we happen to carry.
Marine Electronics In Deltaville
Deltaville marine electronics work happens at our boatyard, where the install, the haul-out, and the rest of the boat's service all sit in one place. That matters for hull-mounted sensors: a through-hull transducer means a hole in the hull, which means the boat on the hard, and our Travel Lift is on site. See our boat haul-out services for how that works.
Boats bought from Norton Yachts get the same treatment, since our own crew does the commissioning and installation on the boats we sell. Phone (804) 682-3227 with the boat's details and what you'd like aboard.
What We Install
Norton Yachts installs and upgrades boat electronics, from the helm to the cockpit:
We can also revamp an outdated system: replacing a worn-out display, bringing older units onto a modern network, or adding the pieces a boat has outgrown. Not sure what's right for your boat? The service team can help you through the buying decision, too.
Electronics Repair
Norton Yachts services and troubleshoots the marine electronics already on your boat. Typical problems include:
The first check is usually the software version, since updates fix a lot of misbehavior, followed by the power reaching the unit, the network connections, and the sensor. If the trouble turns out to be the boat's own wiring, batteries, or charging, it moves to our mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services.
The Technicians
Norton Yachts' marine electronics technicians are ABYC-certified and train often on the products they install, and Raymarine-certified technicians are on site too. ABYC sets the standards for safe, correct boat wiring, which is the part of an electronics install that never shows on the screen.
If you'd rather work as a marine electronics technician than hire one, openings, when we have them, are listed on our careers page.
Planning
Start with the goal, not the model number: safer navigation, radar for fog, an autopilot for single-handing, or a helm that's easier to read. Then tell the service team your boat's make, model, and year, and what electronics are already aboard. They'll recommend a system, and you'll hear what the job involves before it begins.
Hull sensors and anything else that needs the boat out of the water are best planned for a haul-out, so ask about timing when you call (804) 682-3227.

The aim is one working system, not a helm full of stand-alone screens.

If the cause turns out to be the boat's own wiring, batteries, or charging, the work moves to our mechanical and electrical services.
The usual causes are software, power, or the network. Outdated software is the first thing to check, followed by the power reaching the unit and the connections between devices.
A technician can test each in turn.
The cost depends on the equipment, how many devices are networked together, and how much wiring the boat needs. You'll get an estimate once the team knows your boat and what you want aboard.
